Our Story

Tam would walk her dogs every day by a farm where she befriended many of the animals. Then she started noticing some of her friends were missing, and that is when it dawned on her that her friends were being killed. One bull in particular moved her so that she offered to buy him. Knowing nothing of what to do to care for him, she just couldn't stand the thought of him being on someone's plate, so she trusted the universe and she purchased Sherwin, The farm owners rented paddock space for Sherwin and that is where her family grew.  She spent two years on that farm and though it is a "humane" farm, there really is no such thing. Because farmers have to make money, the animal welfare generally suffers. Tam knew she had to get off the farm because it was heartbreaking that she couldn't save them all and she had already amassed quite a menagerie.

Tam put an ad out on Craig's List looking to rent some greener pastures, and a wonderful woman offered her back paddock...for free! TamTam's Farm Sanctuary has been there for  a year and a half, but it is time to move on as that paddock is being turned into a horse arena. There is a spot being fenced currently and hopefully we can stay there until Tam can buy some land for a permanent home and start  reaching towards TFS's future goals.

We are part of the community, The Co-op gives us fresh organic compost everyday which keeps everyone healthy, and Becks Bread give us their seconds and day old loaves, which even those with the most discerning taste would say...those are lucky pigs!  We were established with love and with love we thrive.

It is expensive to run a farm, so donations of  labor, money, food is most helpful. Even if you could donate $5 a month, that feeds the pigs their morning breakfast for a day.
